Is Your Bedroom Romantic?

Is Your Bedroom A Sanctuary?

I love décor and decorations. They are the epitome of entertainment for me besides a nice dinner out. I realized I spend a vast amount of time making the lived in or visible areas of my home look nice and cozy. The reasons mostly were to have a place for my family, but also a beautiful space for others to visit as well.

However, through the conviction of the Holy Spirit, a question was posed to me…Is your bedroom romantic? Is it a place where you and your husband love to go? Well…at that time my answer was a strong… nope…No God the wallpaper is pukey pink, my comforter is stained (clean but stained) where Chris threw up cheese its! (This is how we found out he is lactose intolerant)…oh back to the question…. so no, nope it was not.Of course, that answer does not stop God…  “So what do you pose you should do?”
I knew this was another trick question…so I say…”Fix it?”

Okay, so now I am really actually kind of stoked. I love décor and I love shopping for it so let’s get it going. I made a plan, did some really neat practical things that I could afford, invested some time, and Vwallah….BRAND NEW ROMANTIC HUBBY & WIFE CAVE!

I wanted to share this because, I am not sure, but I believe most married people are not taking the time to really invest in what is crucially important to their marriages. Yes, communication is key, but sex and romance may help you talk a bit more…;-) If I said right now “Everyone who has a romantic getaway inside of their home raise you hand” I think the frog sounds would be overpowering…” Having a nice bed to sleep in and clean sheets is just not enough…Is that really romantic? NOOOOO!! That is BORING!! No wonder we are all yawning at the thought of going to our rooms…lol

You and your husband need a beautiful sanctuary, just for the two of you!!!
You DO!!!

Okay, so since you believe me now, here are some things you could take into consideration or may want to try. My plan was easy and like I said very affordable…Looking through magazines at beautiful rooms can be intimidating, but not if you know how to find a bargain and replicate what you see in the books.

What makes a room romantic?

If you are a wife decorating think in terms of your husband and if you are a husband with the plan, then think in terms of your wife. Serving the others need is the most romantic thing you could ever do.

Some things that can make a bedroom really cozy and romantic:
v     Paint – a nice coat of paint with a color you both can love – I could not bring myself to remove ALL my pink paper…you have to see it to believe how much is there…I just worked around it!
v     Covering on your bed – they (Beds) say a lot…invest in a nice comforter COMPLETE with shams and those annoying little baby pillows that you just throw on the floor (they are really only good for decoration…BUT THEY ARE PRETTY) ;-) If you have a poster bed or canopy, organza draped on the post  is a beautiful touch to a room. JUST DON”T SET THE CANDLES NEAR IT – “Romance up in flames why should I be the blame”…(oops! Sorry I had a Lisa Lisa and cult jam flashback) (for those born after 1980ish, you won’t get it…just let it go).
v     Ambient lighting or Candles – sconces added to a wall add a beautiful inexpensive touch, or you could go a little heavier and add a hanging wall fireplace – they burn butane and run approximately $149.00. They can be found online, Seventh Avenue, Midnight Velvet, etc…JUST GOOGLE IT! LOL
v     Music – always a plus…I know you all are saved, but some light jazz will not kill you. ;-)
v     Add a sitting area…if your bedroom is large enough to do so, add an area with a couple of chairs or a small sofa just to sit and talk…If you have a small space try adding EXTRA large settee decorative pillows to your floor and let that be an additional space for you in the room as well.

Hey, if you think of more things then…please share…keep it G (rated) yall…we are a family page…Thanks!!!

PS. Spouses (husband or wife) please don’t leave yourself out of the planning….it is “your” sanctuary as well, and nothing makes a spouse mad enough to spit than when someone wants the benefits, but is not willing to put in the work or at least the effort! Real Talk!

Once you get your rooms done…feel free to upload your beautiful romantic spaces to our facebook page…just the pic of the space…No pics of “yall” in the space please…pretty please. THANKS!!!

Blessings and Godspeed!
